BANANA, PECAN & MARZIPAN LOAF

12oz/350g Bananas
2oz/50g Pecans
7oz/200g Self Raising Flour
¼ teasp Bicarbonate of Soda
¼ teasp Salt

3oz/75g Butter
6oz/175g Light Soft Brown Sugar
2 Eggs Lightly Beaten
3oz/75g Marzipan

Method

Grease and line a 2lb Loaf tin.
Peel and mash bananas. Reserve a few nuts for decoration then roughly chop the rest.
Sieve flour, soda and salt.
Cream butter and sugar till light and fluffy then gradually add eggs.
Beat in the bananas and nuts.
Fold in the flour mixture. Roughly chop the marzipan and stir in.
Turn the mixture into prepared tin and level.
Decorate with the reserved nuts.
Bake for 1¼ hours till well risen and golden. 180c, 350f, Gas Mark 4.

RULES

1 - Entry Forms and Fees must be in by18th August 2025.
2 - Entries to be at Marquee by 9.30am on 23rd August 2025 with labels firmly attached and named.
3 - Entries unlabelled and un-named will be disqualified.
4 - An individual may only make one entry in any category
5 - The decision of the judges will be final.
6 - Three prizes will be given for each class dependent on number of entries
7 - Children’s Section – Entries free
8 - All entries must be removed between 4.30pm and 5.00pm on the day of the Show
9 - All competitions open to residents in the Show area with the exception of the Children’s Section
